José Pérez Ocaña - "La Ocaña"

Hi All.

He was a painter from Cantillana, Seville who moved to Barcelona on the last years of Franco's regime.   He was an alien for Spaniards at that time as he re-vindicated free of expression (artistic and personal). 

His work shows many aspects of his native Andalusia, full of colour and catholic references with a touch of change.

Fue un pintor de Cantillana, Sevilla quien se mudo a Barcelona en los últimos anos del régimen de Franco. Fue considerado como un extraterrestre para muchos españoles reivindicando libertad de expresión (ambas artísticas y personal). 

Su trabajo muestra muchos aspectos de su Andalucía natal, lleno de color y referencias católicas pero con un toque de cambio.

Marie Laurencin

Dear All.

During my Holidays in Spain I have discovered, Marie Laurencin, a French Artist who, in spite of being very important during her life as an artist, I did not know anything about her.

The fact that I can find every time on the net something or someone exciting, thrilled me. Her paintings have a bit of female mystery of an era which is not gone, full of colour and life.

Durante mis vacaciones en España  descubrí a Marie Laurencin, una artista francesa que, a pesar de ser importante durante su vida como artista, yo no conocía nada sobre ella.

El hecho que puedes encontrar algo nuevo o alguien excitante, me emociona!! Sus pinturas encierran algo de misterio femenino de una era que ahora ya no esta, con mucho color y vida.

2015 has started incredibly good, for me as I have received my first commissioned work for friends and family. I want to seize the opportunity to thanks you all for your support. I would not be doing it without you.

Hello All.

I want to give a homage to my Spanish family for the support in the amazing and exciting new adventure I have started in my life . For them I have created my first images of "TheHouseOfBerto". 

As I am out of the country sometimes I have got the feeling that I am missing out lots of events/moments but I want to let them know that I do love them and I am there/here for anything they might need.

Anselm Kiefer

Hello All.

Last Friday I saw Anselm Kiefer show at the RAA. Although I have seen some painting from him before, I did not know much about his art of life. The show at RAA is a fabulous walk through of his 40 years of artistic life. 

The first thing you noticed when you come in is, big is bigger. He works on big canvases that make  his work stronger and powerful. His use of patters and texture is sublime. There are big windows of a not very optimistic view, as they are all results of war. It makes you reflect on that subject and you suffer along the way, till you reach the two last rooms of the show (Watercolor's life drawings and big canvases with splash of colour) makes you a believer and led you into an optimistic future. 

Loved it. Highly recommended!!!

El pasado Viernes vi una exposición de pintura en la RAA sobre Anselm Kiefer. Aunque ya había visto otras pinturas del el, no conocía mucho sobre su arte o vida. La exposición te hace viajar a lo largo de sus últimos 40 artísticos anios. 

La primera impresión que tienes cuando entras es el tamaño de sus lienzos, grande es mas grande. El trabaja sobre lienzos grandes que hacen que su trabajo sea mas fuerte y poderoso. El uso de patrones y de textura es sublime. Son grandes ventanas a una vista muy poco optimista de un futuro lleno de guerras. Te hace reflexionar sobre el tema y sufres a traves del camino, hasta que en las dos ultimas habitaciones de la exposición (dibujos en acuarela y grandes lienzos con un detalle en color) hacen que creas y te hagan inclinarte hacia un futuro mas optimista. 

Me encanto. Altamente recomendable.  

Review to past work/Repaso a trabajo pasado

Como no se donde me esta llevando el pintar caras a todas horas, he decidido hacer un repaso al trabajo del pasado haber si consigo saber donde voy. Crucemos dedos!!!
