Hello All.

This post shows my latest draws using my iPad. As I do not have much money I have used myself as photo model, always playing with contract on colours and drawing with my finger. It is so liberating as i am not trying to achieve perfection. Sometimes I think the end result is quite something.

En esta entrada os muestro los ultimos dibujos que he hecho utilizando la tableta. Como no dispongo de mucho dinero, el modelo soy yo, siempre jugando con los contrastes en colores y dibujando con los dedos. Es muy liberador el no perseguir la perfección en las proporciones. Algunas veces el resultado final no esta mal.

Experience in South of France

Escaping from what I thought It would have been a awful summer I went to the South of France for a week. I wanted to discovered the place where so many artist like Matisse, Picasso, Gauguin, Van Gogh and many more have worked and have lived. 

I stayed in a little village called "Maussane Les Alpines", close to the town of "Arles" and not too far from "Avignon". As I am not driving and the transports were not very convenient I did visit a few places but not as many as I would have loved. 

"Les Baux de Provence", is a small village with a castle in ruins, which was 4 miles from were I was staying, so I walked. And by chance I discovered this place called "Carrier de Lumieres". A former quarry with art-based multimedia shows, projecting images of famous painting set to music.  It blowed my mind away, so delicately done, so moving. Every year the shows are different. Totally recommended place to visit.

Como me esperaba un verano desastroso aquí en Londres, me escape al sur de Francia, pues quería visitar el lugar donde vivieron y trabajaron algunos de mis artistas favoritos, como Matisse, Picasso, Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh entre otros muchos. 

Me quede en un pueblecito llamado "Maussane Les Alpines", cerca de la ciudad de Arles y no muy lejos de "Aviñon".  Como no tengo carnet de conducir estuve bastante restringido a la hora de visitar lugares y no pude ver tanto como me hubiera gustado. 

"Les Baux de Provence", es un pueblo pequeño con un castillo en ruinas y unas vistas de impresión, y como estaba cerca pues fui andando. Por casualidad descubri un sitio llamado "Carrier de Lumieres".  Una ex-cantera donde se proyectan espectáculos de arte con música en sus paredes. Me sorprendió muchísimo y me emociono. Cada año el espectáculo es diferente y merece la pena.

Grant and Bell - Moderns/Modernos

Hello All.

Unusual Couple who has been part of the famous Bloomsbury group. A group formed by intellectual, artist and willing to break moralist rules made on Victorian times. 

Although he was gay, they had a long relationship. There is a place outside London where they used to live which I meant to go for a long time. Charleston House. It is full of their painting and permeated experiences on their walls as they spent 40 years in there.

Duncan obviously was inspired by male beauty and Vanessa cherished that as one of his qualities. You can see that both of them inspired each other when painting and most of the times they worked together. 

If you got the chance to watch on BBC iplayer "life in squares" it is a tv series about that group and especially about Duncan and Vanessa relationship. Worth it.

Una pareja inusual que formo parte del group de intelectuales, pintores llamado Bloomsbury que quiso romper con las normas morales creadas durante el reinado de Victoria.

Aunque el era gay, tuvieron una larga relación amorosa. Hay un casa fuera de Londres que siempre he querido visitar desde hace mucho tiempo. Charleston House. Esta llena de sus cuadros y experiencias impregnadas en sus paredes, vivieron allí por 40 años.  

Duncan, obviamente, le inspiraba la belleza masculina y Vanessa lo respetaba como una de sus cualidades. Se puede ver que ambos se inspiraban a la hora de pintar y la mayoría de las veces lo hacían juntos. 

Si podeis, hay una serie de TV en BBC iplayer llamada "Life in Squares" sobre Bloomsbury group y especialmente sobre su vida en pareja.  Merece la pena. 

Exploring Abstract - Explorando Abstracto

After a well deserved time off in fabulous Valencia, I have come back to say hello and show you all my latest work. 

As the title suggest, Abstract is a style easily to practice but it is difficult to get contented with the final result. 

Nature, people and previous work is my inspiration.

Después de unas muy merecidas vacaciones en Valencia, me dispongo a seguir activo en mi blog para  deciros hola y mostraos mi ultimo trabajo. 

Como el titulo sugiere, Abstracto es un estilo que aunque parece fácil de practicar, es bastante divicil conseguir algo que a uno le guste. 

Naturaleza, Gente y algunos pasado trabajos míos son mi inspiración.

As you probably knows I do hold an account in Instagram called "TheHouseOfBerto". In there I post pics of my latest work. It is a sort of picture's diary of my life. 

Instagram is such a good source of inspiration to me as I have found so many talented people in there that I now follow.  It is like going to a art library.

Como ya sabréis, tengo una cuenta en Instagram que llamo "TheHouseOfBerto". Alli pongo imágenes de mi trabajo mas actual. Es como un diario fotográfico de mi vida. 

Instagram es una fuente buenísima de inspiración para mi, ya que allí he encontrado tanta gente con mucho talento y que ahora sigo. Es como ir a una biblioteca de arte.

New Style/Nuevo Estilo

Hello.

I am still drawing faces using "Brushes" on my Ipad but I do only emphases on painting eyes and lips. For the background I am using pics from my projects, when I was studying Art and Design. This way I want to keep the character that I am choosing more in a mystic state. I do not want to define him/her as they are but how I imagine them.

Sigo dibujando caras usando la aplicación "Brushes" en mi Ipad pero solo me centro en perfilar y pintar los ojos y labios. Para el fondo, estoy usando images de mis proyectos cuando estaba estudiando Arte y Diseño. De esta manera, quiero conservar para el personaje que elijo un estado de misticismo. No quiero definirle como son en realidad, sino como yo me los imagino.
